The Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA) is a
nonprofit, nonpartisan, professional organization
that provides training, information, and networking
opportunities to 12,000 environmental professionals
in 65 countries. The Association’s goals are to

scientific and technological responses to
environmental concerns, and assist professionals in
critical environmental decision-making to benefit
society.
American
Industrial Hygiene Association
The American Industrial Hygiene Foundation (AIHF) is
dedicated to ensuring there are enough highly
trained and skilled industrial hygienists to
continue to develop the science of industrial
hygiene and protect workers at all levels of
American industry. It is a nonprofit organization
formed by the American Industrial Hygiene
Association. Since 1982, AIHF has distributed over
$630,000 to more than 30 universities and 290
students.
American Society
of Safety Engineers
Founded in 1911, ASSE is the oldest and largest
professional safety organization. Its 33,000 members
manage, supervise and consult on safety, health, and
environmental issues in industry, insurance,
government and education. ASSE is guided by a
16-member Board of Directors, which consists of 8
regional vice presidents; three council vice
presidents; Society president, president-elect,
senior vice president, vice president of finance and
executive director. ASSE has 12 practice
specialties, 148 chapters, 56 sections and 64
student sections.
American Water
Works Association
The American Water Works Association (AWWA) is an
international nonprofit scientific and educational
society dedicated to the improvement of drinking
water quality and supply. Founded in 1881, AWWA is
the largest organization of water supply
professionals in the world. Its more than 50,000
members represent the full spectrum of the drinking
water community: treatment plant operators and
managers, scientists, environmentalists,
manufacturers, academicians, regulators, and others
who hold genuine interest in water supply and public
health. Membership includes more than 4,000
utilities that supply water to roughly 180 million
people in North America.

NAEM
The National Association for Environmental
Management (NAEM) is the leading association
dedicated to advancing the principles and profession
of environmental management. The Association was
created in 1990 by a small group of environmental
managers who realized there was no entity in
existence for environmental managers from a wide
range of industries to exchange ideas and gain
insight and knowledge from each other. Today, NAEM
is a nation-wide organization that has grown to more
than 1,000 strong. Its members are better trained
and better equipped to advance their personal and

Council
The National Safety Council is a membership
organization, dedicated to protecting life and
promoting health. It has been working for

organization dedicated to improving the safety,
health, and environmental well-being of all people.
OSHA
OSHA's mission is to send every worker home
whole and healthy every day. Since the agency was
created in 1971, workplace fatalities have been cut
in half and occupational injury and illness rates
have declined 40 percent. At the same time, U.S.
employment has nearly doubled from 56 million
workers at 3.5 million worksites to 105 million
workers at nearly 6.9 million sites.
The mission of the Occupational Safety and Health
Administration (OSHA) is to save lives, prevent
injuries and protect the health of America's
workers. To accomplish this, federal and state
governments must work in partnership with the more
than 100 million working men and women and their six
and a half million employers who are covered by the
Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970.
